Bullying Scenario 1, Scene 3, Consequences

Legal:

Alexis could be charged with Bullying (Class 1 misdemeanor punishable by 1 – 120 days in jail), Disorderly Conduct by Disrupting Students (Class 1 misdemeanor punishable by 1 – 120 days in jail if Alexis is >18, Class 2 misdemeanor punishable by 1 – 60 days in jail if Alexis is <18), Disorderly Conduct by Fighting (Class 2 misdemeanor, punishable by 1 – 60 days in jail), Simple Assault (Class 2 misdemeanor, punishable by 1 – 60 days in jail), Simple Affray (Class 2 misdemeanor, punishable by 1 – 60 days in jail) and depending on the injury, Assault Inflicting Serious Injury (Class A1 misdemeanor, punishable by 1 – 150 days in jail). Unfortunately, Keisha can also be charged with Disorderly Conduct by Fighting(Class 2 misdemeanor, punishable by 1 – 60 days in jail) for fighting.

School:

Be aware of what your school’s policy is on this issue, because some schools have a zero-tolerance stance on such behaviors.

CCS prohibits bullying on school grounds, off school grounds at a school activity, and traveling to or from school or a school activity. It also sets the guidelines for schools’ bullying policies. CCS district’s policies are for bullying/threatening another student is a Class II Violation. Punishment can range from 10 day suspension from school to 45-365 day long term suspension at alternative school.

Medical:

Keisha suffered multiple bruises and scrapes, but nothing severe enough to warrant medical attention.

Emotional:

Imagine how this experience might affect each of the people involved, including the victims, the perpetrators, as well as their family and friends. Different people are affected differently.
